In collaboration with the ‘Amsterdamse Orde van Advocaten’ and the Amsterdam Center for International Law & Criminal Law Department of the University of Amsterdam, a visit was organized to the International Criminal Court.

The Tribunal hosted a group of 15 legal professionals from Syria, who are seeking or have been granted asylum in the Netherlands. The visitors showed great interest in the work of the ICTY and its relevance for future accountability efforts related to the war that is ongoing in Syria. The guests attended a hearing in the Mladić trial and received a briefing about the work of the ICTY by Gregory Townsend, the head of the ICTY Court Support Services Section.
